About the Campaign
Wow. Yeah. This is the most we’ve ever tried to raise for a show.
すごい金額です。これまでYTGが一つの作品のために集めようとしてきた中で、今回が過去最大です。
Here’s the process that will take us to the final show in August:
ここから、8月の最終公演へとつながっていく創作プロセスをご紹介します。
Source Material | ソース素材
We start with a prompt. In this case, it’s a 3-stanza poem by Artistic Director Andrew Woolner called I Speak in the Halls of Power.
すべてはひとつの「きっかけ」から始まります。今回の場合、それはアーティスティック・ディレクターのアンドリュー・ウールナーが書いた、3連からなる詩 I Speak in the Halls of Power です。
The Ensemble | アンサンブル
The spring ensemble was a group of eight people who came together to work on the show. It included several members who didn’t appear in the showcase itself, but who helped create the material.
春のアンサンブルは、この作品を創作するために集まった8名のチームでした。その中にはショーケース本番には出演しなかったメンバーもいましたが、作品素材の創作に大きく貢献しました。
The summer ensemble is in the process of forming.
現在、夏公演に向けた新しいアンサンブルを編成中です。
The Process | プロセス
In the rehearsal room, the ensemble thought about interpretations of the poem and started creating characters and scenes through exercises and improvisation, documenting as they went. Each artist contributed their skills and strengths: actors created characters, our musician composed, and together we created looks and wrote the action.
稽古場では、アンサンブルが詩の解釈を探りながら、エクササイズやインプロビゼーション（即興）を通してキャラクターやシーンを生み出し、その過程を記録していきました。それぞれのアーティストが自分の得意分野を持ち寄ります。俳優はキャラクターを作り、ミュージシャンは楽曲を生み出し、全員でビジュアルや舞台上のアクションを組み立てていきます。
The Assembly | アセンブリー（構成）
As the date of the showcase drew closer, Andrew and the team chose the best or most interesting pieces to present before a live audience. In this case, the scenes were presented one after the other, with only one point where the ensemble addressed the audience to explain missing context.
ショーケース本番が近づくにつれ、アンドリューとチームは、その時点で最も面白く、可能性を感じる素材を選び、観客の前で発表する構成を組み立てました。今回はシーンを順番に並べる形式を取り、途中一度だけ、アンサンブルが観客に直接語りかけて背景説明を行いました。
The Showcase | ショーケース
The collected works were presented as a minimal staging in front of a live audience as a showcase. Afterwards, the ensemble talked with the audience to get feedback, insights, and ideas.
こうして集まった素材は、最小限の演出によるショーケースとして観客の前で上演されました。上演後には、アンサンブルが観客と対話し、フィードバックや新たな視点、アイデアを受け取りました。
Beyond the Showcase | ショーケースの先へ
Now that the Spring Showcase has allowed us to experiment and test material in front of an audience, Artistic Director Andrew Woolner will assemble a team of artists and technicians to realize the next iteration of the show. And it’s now that we need your support the most. We’ve put months of labour into this production and we need your support to see it through to the end.
Spring Showcase を通して、私たちは観客の前で作品素材を試し、実験し、その可能性を確かめることができました。ここから先は、アーティスティック・ディレクターのアンドリュー・ウールナーが新たなアーティストと技術スタッフのチームを編成し、作品を次の段階へと発展させていきます。そして今こそ、皆さまのご支援を最も必要としているタイミングです。この作品にはすでに何か月もの時間と労力を注いできました。最後までこの作品を実現するために、どうか皆さまのお力を貸してください。
